Our home base
We live and work in Waukee, and we know it street by street: the older houses around the Triangle, the subdivisions that filled in through the 2000s and 2010s, and the new construction around Kettlestone. After a storm, Waukee calls are the shortest trip we make.
Being local matters after the job, too. If a shingle lifts in a spring wind or a gutter seam starts dripping, we're close by, and our 10-year workmanship warranty on full replacements comes from a company that stays put when storm season ends.
Waukee homes and their roofs
Most of Waukee has been built since 2000. Subdivisions like Glynn Village, Painted Woods and Williams Pointe went up fast, usually with builder-grade shingles, the minimum number of roof vents and young trees that don't block much wind yet.
Many of those first roofs are now old enough to show problems. Entry-level shingles from the early 2000s are near the end of their life, and attics with a ridge vent but little soffit intake run hot in July and frosty in January. The older homes near the Triangle are a different job, with original framing and decades of past repairs.

What we see most on Waukee roofs
- Builder-grade shingles aging outMany first-generation Waukee roofs used 3-tab or entry-level architectural shingles. After 15 to 20 Iowa summers and a few hailstorms, they lose granules, curl at the edges and start lifting in wind.
- Exhaust vents without intakeWe often find a ridge vent on top and soffits below that are solid, painted shut or packed with insulation. Without intake, the exhaust can't pull air, which shortens shingle life and feeds ice dams. Our ventilation work balances the two.
- Wind on the edge of townNewer Waukee streets near open fields have little to slow a west or northwest wind. We check rakes, ridges and the first course at the eaves, since that's where unsealed shingles lift first.

Roofing questions from Waukee
My HOA has rules about roofing. Can you work within them?
Yes. Many Waukee subdivisions have covenants on shingle style or color. Send us the covenant or your HOA contact, and we'll quote an approved product and supply the spec sheet your board asks for.
How do I know whether my builder-installed roof is worth repairing?
If the shingles are under about 15 years old, still sealed down, and damage is limited to a few spots, repair usually makes sense. If granule loss is widespread or hail bruised several slopes, replacement is the better spend, and our photos show you which side of that line you're on.
